Yes, Charlestown is well known as the home to legendary bankrobbers and Irish gangsters. Yes, most of the bars that were once shady gangster hang-outs are now yuppy bars. Many of the biggest gangsters in ctown were convicted and sent to prison in the 90 but the Cheap North Face
newer generation is here.
My advice to the upper class is to stay on your side of town. Be respectful to when you at the bars, and leave your fancy jewelry at home.
Gangsters and thugs lurk in the shadows and the only people they are known to commit a crime against are others within that life in which they live.
It the heroine addicts that are the real problem in ctown. If I was a junky and I needed to score, I be salvating knowing there are yuppies just down the street to prey on. So lock your doors, turn the alarm on and have a gun ready. Because ctown is with heroine addicts. Nonetheless, I love ctown. We are producing a contemporary fictional movie called "TOWNIES" about the underground Irish mob that live there. Two of my friends were mugged at knife point in the Back Bay on the same day, by different people. Yes, the Back bay. CTown, Roxbury, Dorchester. BOSTON IS DANGEROUS. THE WORLD IS northfaceoutletsales DANGEROUS. You rich people that think you know what youre talking about should stop talking. Dont talk about things you know nothing about. You think your towns are perfect? Sure. you make me frickin sick. "when the poor people move in we will be moving out" I hope you trip and fall and break your neck on the toilet that the poor people cleaned for your scumbag ass. You are more than willing to improve your standard of living on the backs of the poor and then decry their pestilence when the soviet style dormitory you stick them in in some hidden part of the city becomes noticeable. All the while gentrifying every decent piece of land you can find. you are scum. Ill be walking through back bay this week. be glad that your pansy ass will remain hidden in your swanky cave.
I lived in Charlestown in the early 90s and id was no big deal, but that doesn mean the movie is not possible. Every hood in the city has its own set of tough kids and so does the cities all the way down to the cape. Charlestown, lynn, quincy, Brockton, even Hyannis on the Cape has more shootings nowadays.
When I lived there I lived amongst the twnies and they are fine. My landlord was one. A bank truck got robbed at the White hen while I was cooking ramen noodles. Big deal, but it was more like one shitty revolver, not AR-15 rifles lol.
The movie only tunes in on like tenNorth Face WindstoppeJackets guys which is believable in any town.
I grew up in Charlestown in the 50 and 60 of it in the project. It was never perfect but it was home. Even the project was better than the three story no bathtub/no heat Charlestown tenement I lived in when I was small. The rock fights and the fist fights, and all the other kinds of fights were just part of the learning process. My two capped teeth, twice broken nose, and a scar or two are worth the privilige of being an original pre-yuppy townie and an excellent source of tales to bore the wife and kids. Most of people I grew up with were pretty fine folks, if a bit rough around the edges, and the equal of any executive I met since. Sure there were those who went off to prison, but no one held that much against them provided they committed their crimes out of town. I went off to college thinking I would be dealing with a better class of people-proto-yuppies. I was wrong. Townies might have been less polite, but you usually knew where you stood with them and they stood their ground.
So here to Dewey Beach (Yes, Charlestown had its own beach.), The Big Potato, Station 15, and all the hundered of children that attended St. Francis de Sales each ear in the "good old" days.
